Why the Hare Should Have Won that Race

The next time you have two chapters of biology to read, an English paper to start (and finish), and all the even-numbered problems from the calculus textbook to do (because you were so tired from finishing the odd-numbered problems last night that you fell asleep in math class and the teacher decided you needed more)... take a nap!

As students, sometimes long days of class lead to equally long nights of studying, and napping--for just a little while--seems like such a beautiful idea. But no. There is too much to do and not enough time to do it, so we chug more coffee, eat a couple of apples (they're apparently supposed to help you stay alert, too), and stretch and yawn and do jumping jacks... and somehow we struggle through the work.

But more recently, scientific studies [from the National Sleep FoundationUC BerkeleyNational Institute of Mental HealthUniversity of Haifa/the Sleep Laboratory at the Sheba Medical Center/the Department of Psychology at the University of MontrealHarvard Medical School, and even NASA] have shown that napping can actually significantly improve productivity. Check out the infographic below.

The benefits are clear; we'll definitely try napping more (more than we already do ^_____^). So what do YOU think?
