What to Remember When You're Serving Complete Strangers

If you've been tutored through Forward Tutoring, you've definitely signed up to serve in your community. Most likely, when you signed up to help at an event, both the people you worked with and those you served were complete strangers. It's also very likely that you'll never see them again, if you signed up for a one-time event. But do you know just how important that one meeting could have been? Even if no one learned your name, you could have made a lasting impact... and the same goes the other way. If you keep your heart in the game and your eyes peeled, you'll learn all sorts of lessons.

Recently we stumbled upon this inspiring video that reminded us of this fact. The story begins in a conference room where a group of strangers have been called together by a dead man's will. None of these strangers know the man, but he ends up changing their lives.

The video may be a little long--all of 16 minutes and 2 seconds--for the modern fast-paced society of twitter and instant coffee, but I promise you: it's more than worth the time.

Oh yeah. And for some reason, the only version I could find had Chinese subtitles... But the audio is in English... so. Has anyone ever inspired or helped you without knowing it? Have you ever made a difference to anyone else? What do YOU think?
