This weekend was the summer orientation at the birthplace of Forward Tutoring, the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS).
Quite a few of your FTeamsters both represented and promoted Forward Tutoring to the incoming juniors. What was really exciting was watching some of them come in already aware of Forward Tutoring and more than eager to be involved.
On Saturday, TAMS set up a new orientation event called "mock semester." This was meant to mimic all the fun activities and academic opportunities in the typical TAMS semester and ultimately stress the importance of wise time management. Ari operated a tutoring table, which would've represented a less-exciting aspect of TAMSters' semesters. Despite the plethora of tables representing clubs and activities, Ari converted his table to better represent Forward Tutoring and then charismatically and clearly explained Forward Tutoring's concept and goals. He even carefully laid out brochures in the shape of “FT.” Many juniors have since liked our facebook page an asked to be a part of this project. The more the merrier!
